DENIS CIMAF vertical-shaft, brushcutting disc technology

DAV brushcutters and DTN brushcutter-mowers use vertical-shaft disc technology, which thanks to its relatively simple design and limited number of parts, delivers many technical benefits including:
Lower acquisition and operating costs […] compared to products using the horizontal-shaft rotor technology;
Lower weight units […];
Straightforward maintenance and repair procedures, owing to smaller number of parts […].

Vertical-shaft discs are however more limited in terms of the types of operations in which they may be used. Attachments with this technology do not chip vegetation during brushcutting operations. They simply cut it, leaving larger pieces of wood on the ground. Projects that require a nicer finish will thus take longer to complete. When used on excavators, debris is deflected sideways but cannot be entirely eliminated, and can in fact be deflected at great speed over long distances. It is not therefore recommended using these units near roads or inhabited areas.

When used under appropriate conditions, products using this technology are incredibly robust and easy to manoeuvre. They are worthwhile alternatives when acquisition and operating costs are major constraints.
