The DAF front-mounted brushcutter-chippers evolved from adapting the DAH series to vehicles such as wheeled or tracked skid steers or other dedicated units that are designed for use with front-mounted attachments .
These industrial hydraulic attachments are ideal for intensive brushcutting applications including land clearing, development and maintenance of transmission line and pipeline right-of-ways, and roadside maintenance. DAF brushcutters use DENIS CIMAF’s patented horizontal-shaft rotor technology with fixed knives and bolt-on cutting blades , a design that offers numerous advantages:
- High efficiency unit that does not require additional power pack [+]
- Highly productive operations, owing to optimal cutting angle [+]
- Two, chevron-like rows of knives that direct the brushes towards the center of the rotor rather than to one of its extremities [+]
- Blades that can be sharpened right on the unit [+]
- Bolt-on blades that are thermally treated, forged and deliver maximum resistance to impact and abrasion [+]
- Knife holders that come with protective discs, thereby considerably reducing risk of breakage of welded parts on rotor tube [+]
DAF models also have one or two variable displacement axial-piston motors (to minimize overheating problems and improve re-acceleration) and a timing-belt drive system to eliminate slippage.
There are two (2) versions of the DAF model: the double-drive industrial version and the single-drive unit.
